Helwan Observatory is a significant example of modern Egyptian astronomy. It includes a 30 inch telescope which was the first to record Halley’s comet in 1909 and 1911. Furthermore it contains two Clock Rooms which have been used in the 18th century for time service and adjusting artificial satellite observations.
